Removal of weather vane from the spire of the grade II listed historic Bridge Chambers, Barnstaple
— 08 Dec 2015
The existing spire is due to be repaired and redecorated in 2016, but recent storms have caused further structural degradation through the ingress of rainwater and additional damage to the timber structure through the high wind loads on the 4m high weather vane.
The storms have exacerbated the known issues requiring the weather vane to be removed to minimise any further damage to the historic spire.
