Bridport Town Hall, Dorset This prominent Grade 1 listed Town Hall in the centre of Bridport had limited access to the public rooms on the first floor and much of the ground floor had been taken over as public toilets. The Town Council’s aim was toprovide level access to the building from Bucky Doo Square. A new lift was installed so that everyone can visit and have access to the historic rooms on the first floor. The facilities were also improved, including energy efficient heating, lighting, acoustics, kitchen and IT provision. With a new community exhibition space and new accommodation for the Tourism Information Centre. This work has included a significant amount of public consultation and has accommodated the Butchers who are very popular in the town and provide a continuous link to the original open meat market in the undercroft. The practice undertook design and appraisal strategies to assist the Town Council in its application for public grants to carry out the work.
